The Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) has approved an increase of 4 lakh tons in the wheat procurement target, raising it from 14 lakh tons to 18 lakh tons. The meeting of the ECC, chaired by Federal Finance Minister Muhammad Hammad Azhar, also approved the release of Rs. 127.50 billion for the power sector. However, the summary regarding the urea fertilizer requirements for the upcoming summer season has been deferred.

During the ECC meeting, discussions were held on 18 agenda items. According to sources, the ECC approved the release of Rs. 127.50 billion for the power sector, out of which Rs. 70 billion will be issued for the provision of advance subsidy for K-Electric. Additionally, Rs. 55 billion will be released to eliminate the tariff differential for Azad Jammu and Kashmir, and a temporary grant of Rs. 2.50 billion will be issued for the Power Division.

Special relief packages for daily wage workers in Chaman Border, as well as the approval for the Next Generation Mobile Broadband Spectrum auction Adviser Committee, were also granted during the meeting. Lastly, decisions were made to release funds for the payment of salaries of steel mill workers from January to June, as well as a temporary grant of Rs. 4.86 billion for the Pakistan Atomic Energy Commission.
