The Indonesian foreign minister has criticized the double standards of Western countries on Gaza, stating that Indonesia will continue to support Palestine. According to the global news agency, the Indonesian foreign minister, Retno Marsudi, said that the Western countries championing human rights are suddenly silent in the face of human rights violations in Gaza. He made these remarks at the Merdeka Building in Jakarta, stating that this is the place that reminds Indonesia of its “debt” to Palestine. He emphasized that Indonesia will continue to fight for the freedom of Palestine.

It is worth noting that the Merdeka Building in Indonesia was built in 1955 in memory of the Asian-African Conference, which aimed to oppose colonization and was a catalyst for the non-aligned movement.

The Indonesian foreign minister also criticized international organizations, saying that the United Nations Security Council has failed to stop the genocide of Palestinians in Gaza. He emphasized the need for the UN to not forget the struggle of the Palestinian people. Retno Marsudi also condemned the United States for vetoing the ceasefire resolution in the Security Council, stating that human rights violations in Gaza are being ignored.

It is important to note that Indonesia’s foreign minister will also record a statement at the International Court of Justice in the coming month regarding the petition from South Africa against Israeli aggression in Palestine.
