Imran Khan, the founder of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, appealed to the Supreme Court just 8 days before the general elections for permission to contest in the elections.
Appeals were filed in the Supreme Court by the PTI, challenging the decision to reject nomination papers under Article 89 and Article 122.
The appeal argued that they were not disqualified on ethical grounds, and it would be wrong to disqualify them from participating in the elections on that basis, as the decision of the Lahore High Court on January 16 declared it null and void.
The plea requested the acceptance of nomination papers from constituency 89, permission to participate in the elections, and to remove the electoral symbol.
